The Past Does Not Get a Vote
You are not your failed business. You are not the divorce. You are not the unfinished degree. You are not the years you spent in a wrong relationship.
None of those get a vote on what you build starting today. And today is as good a time as any to decide and get started.
Most people who feel disqualified are not actually disqualified. They are operating under the belief that the past is a verdict. Actually, it’s only data. And the difference between those two is the difference between staying stuck and starting over.
The past is not a life sentence. It is information.
What happened happened. The relationship ended. The business folded. The season you thought you would use well slipped by. Those are facts. But facts do not carry instructions. They do not tell you what to do next. They do not tell you who you are allowed to become.
You tell yourself that story.
And most people tell themselves a disqualifying story. I wasted my twenties, so I am behind. I failed once, so I am not built for this. I made a mess, so I do not deserve a clean start.
That is not wisdom. That is fear dressed up as self-awareness.
One intentional decision starts a new season. Not ten. Not a year of healing. One decision that says: I am no longer building my future on evidence from my past.
You do not need to feel ready. You do not need permission. You do not need the past to feel resolved before you start moving.
You just need to move.
What is the decision you are dressing up as disqualification?
Write it down. Tell it to someone who will not let you off the hook.
Your past does not get a vote. Stop giving it one.
